Acid scarlet 3R Property: It is red uniform powder and red in water, slightly soluble in alcohol and insoluble in other organic solvents.

It is purple in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, yellow in the presence of concentrated nitric acid, red in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid and brown in the presence of sodium hydroxide.

Usage: Acid scarlet 3R is used for food coloring. It is also used for dyeing wool, silk, nylon, leather, paper, plastic, wood and cosmetics.
