Chemical properties Yellow powder. Melting point 134℃, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, soluble in grease and mineral oil, soluble in acetone and benzene. Solvent yellow 14 is an orange-red solution in ethanol; it is magenta in concentrated sulfuric acid, which produces orange-yellow precipitate after dilution.
