Sulphur black dye CI sulphur black 1 is insoluble in water, so sodium sulfide or other reducing agents should be used to reduce the dye to soluble cryptochrome. Sulphur black has affinity to the fiber and dye the fiber, then after oxidation, it will return to its insoluble state and fix on the fiber. So sulphur black dye is also a kind of vat dye and widely used for denim mill and cotton yearn factory.
