Water-soluble inkjet dyes requirement:
(1) Good water solubility;
(2) Strong coloring power;
(3) The color is bright and pure;
(4) The aqueous solution is stable without deterioration;
(5) Strong color and weather resistance.
The main dyes used to make water-soluble inkjet are acid dyes and direct dyes.
The ink made of water-soluble dyes has poor fastness. This kind of ink is not water-resistant because of the excellent re-solubility of water-soluble dyes
Acid dyes are characterized by bright colors, but the disadvantages are poor light fastness, high color migration and easy edge penetration. After 2-3 weeks of printing, the edge of color and color contact halo, resulting in the third color and the quality of printing. The cost of inkjet made of acid dyes is lower. Low cost inkjet mostly uses acid dyes as colorants.
Due to the relatively large molecular weight, low mobility, high light fastness, no halo edge penetration, high clarity and storage time of direct dyes are more than ten times higher than those of acid dyes.
The cost of inkjet with direct dyes as colorants is much higher than that of acid dyes. High grade inkjet colorant in the market is mostly direct dyes.
Dye ink like fountain pen dyes is a molecular level fully soluble ink, with a general diameter of 1 ~ 2 nm. The probability of blocking the ink head is very small. After inkjet printing, it is easy to be absorbed by materials, and printed on flat and smooth paper, which has a good performance of light radiation. Therefore, the ability of color reduction is relatively strong, and the printed image is colorful, and the cost is low. However, dye ink is not like pigment ink The surface is protected by a layer of polymer, so in harsh conditions, the molecules are easy to decompose, causing discoloration.
